As Monica Kwarcinski, Purdue Pharma, reminded us, compliance wasn’t even on the Medical Communications landscape 15 years ago. Today, it’s a very different story. The whole area has become formalised into Medical Information practice and expanded to encompass all of our activities. These are my take-home messages about compliant activities in Med Info from this great 3 hour tutorial at the 2011 DIA US Med Comms workshop.

Like many of you, I always have an endless to do list and more work than I can reasonably handle. Or do I?

How to successfully implement a copy approval system, Zinc, in a busy Medical Information department. Sarah York from Sanofi-Aventis showed the importance of planning, anticipating the problems and risks plus communicating and getting commitment from the users and stakeholders. These essential steps helped them to pilot then implement an electronic copy approval system. And the outcome? A dramatic 43% reduction in turnaround time at a time when job bags numbers were increasing. Oh, and throw in the need to do promotional approval with joint venture companies.
